Debra holds a Bachelor of Arts from The Evergreen State College (1978).  She worked as an employment and training program coordinator for the Washington State Employment Security Department from 1980 to 1998.  She has lived in Olympia since 1974.  She is the mother of two school-age children. 

Debra’s husband, Tom Foote, is an associate teacher with Enneagram Olympia.  He certified to teach the Enneagram in the Narrative Tradition with Palmer and Daniels in 2005 and is a member of the Association of Enneagram Teachers in the Narrative Tradition.


Tom is a Member of the Faculty-Emeritus at The Evergreen State College where he taught from 1972 to 2005.  His specialty areas include America’s music in cultural perspective, writing creative non-fiction, critical media analysis and ethnographic field research.  Tom holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Tulsa, an M.S. Ed. from the Oregon College of Education and a Ph.D. in Education from Oregon State University.

Tom is an accomplished bluegrass musician, radio show host, private pilot, licensed falconer and devoted dad.

Debra Janison is the founder and lead teacher of Enneagram Olympia.  She has been a student of the Enneagram since 1990.  She studied in the narrative tradition with Helen Palmer and David Daniels, M.D. beginning in 1995 and was certified to teach upon completion of the Enneagram Professional Training Program in 1997. 
She is a member of the Association of Enneagram Teachers in the Narrative Tradition and the International Enneagram Association.


Debra’s understanding of the Enneagram is also informed by the work of A. H. Almaas, founder of the Ridhwan School.  She has studied with Sandra Maitri, author of “The Spiritual Enneagram: Nine Faces of the Soul” and “The Enneagram of the Passions and the Virtues: Finding the Way Home.”
